It is hard to believe that May is flying by and that the end of the school year is quickly approaching. It has been a whirlwind, but also a time of great improvement and fun. This director's update includes several time sensitive announcements, quite a few point about the summer and next year, along with information on our end of the year performances.

Spring Jazz Concert

May 14, 7pm, Auditorium (This Thursday!)

Band Banquet

This Friday! If you bought a meal ticket, food will be served at 5:30. At 6:45, we will begin the year-long slideshow in the auditorium. Then begin the awards ceremony at 7pm. If you are joining us for the ceremony only, you did not need to purchase a ticket. Hope to see you there!

Jazz Band Auditions

Auditions for the 2026-2027 LNHS Jazz Band will take place during the spring of 2026. Players that are interested need to contact Dr. Wanken about registering.

Elementary Tour

The beginning band directors and the fourth grade elementary teachers have again asked members of our band to stop by and play for the elementary students on Friday, May 22. We would be playing pep band tunes outside the buildings. We would be taking a bus in between schools. Students are dismissed at 8:30am and will return to school around 2:40pm. We will be eating lunch by the Culvers/Wendy’s/Cub area. Students will need to bring money or their own lunch. Because of space limitations, we are limited to 100 band members for this trip. There will be a sign up sheet this week.

Every year we look forward to playing and getting the elementary kids excited for band! 

Graduation

Jazz Band will again be performing before the graduation ceremony. This year graduation will be held in the Lakeville North Stadium on Thursday, June 4 (Rain day = Friday, June 5). Once jazz is done performing, additional band members will take their seats to play Pomp and Circumstance. We will stay for the ceremony to support and cheer on our graduating bandies. Students should wear nice clothes and have something to eat before we leave. There will be a sign up for additional players after the spring concert.

Jazz Band seniors will perform with us in their gowns. The band will take their instruments back to North and they can pick them up on Friday morning OR make additional arrangements with Dr. Wanken to pick up the student’s instrument at the ceremony or a later date.
